A superb vintage Record adjustable mitre box by the renowned Edward Preston & Sons of Birmingham - a precision tool for accurate angled cuts.
This beautifully crafted mitre box features solid beech construction with cast iron guide mechanisms that retain traces of original red paint. The adjustable guides allow for precise angle cutting beyond standard 45 and 90-degree mitres. Clearly marked with both the circular “Edward Preston & Sons Birmingham” brass maker’s plate and an original yellow paper label showing the Record brand name and usage instructions, along with the original price marking.
Edward Preston & Sons was one of Birmingham’s most prestigious tool manufacturers, operating from the mid-19th century into the 20th century.
