Vintage Jenbro 10" Turnscrew - Large Wooden Handle Screwdriver

£30.00
Vintage 10" screwdriver or turnscrew
by Jenbro, Sheffield, England.
Circa 1940-1970

A substantial vintage 10” Jenbro turnscrew with characterful wooden handle - a quality British-made screwdriver.
This large turnscrew features a robust forged steel blade clearly marked “JENBRO” and an elegantly turned wooden handle with brass ferrule. The generous size makes it ideal for heavy-duty work requiring significant torque. The wooden handle shows attractive wear and patina from decades of workshop use, whilst the blade remains in good condition. The brass ferrule adds both decorative appeal and structural support.

"Turnscrew" is the traditional British term for what’s commonly called a screwdriver. These substantial tools were essential in workshops, engineering shops, and for heavy assembly work where leverage and grip were crucial. Quality examples like this Jenbro featured drop-forged blades that could withstand significant force without bending or breaking.

Jenbro was the trademark of Jenks Brothers Ltd., founded in 1912 and based in Wolverhampton with branches in Leeds and Newcastle. They produced motor accessories, small tools, and machines that became particularly popular in the motorcycle trade. In 1937, Jenks Brothers was taken over and became associated with Britool. Jenbro tools are now sought after by vintage motorcycle enthusiasts and collectors of quality British workshop tools.

Good vintage working condition, has been lightly cleaned to keep the original patina. Blade solid with working patina. Wooden handle shows honest wear with attractive aged finish - some paint or finish loss adds character. Steel ferrule intact. Ready for continued use or display.

Perfect for vintage tool collectors, traditional woodworkers, mechanics, or as workshop décor. A substantial, characterful tool from British manufacturing heritage.

All items where appropriate will be sent well packaged, tracked and insured. International buyers are responsible for any import taxes and duties.
Where possible we will combine purchases for shipping. Total weigh approx. 0.18Kg.
