Vintage pair of five, bevel edge, cast steel, firmer chisels, with round handles. Unkown maker. Circa 1930-1960.
A handsome matching pair of vintage firmer chisels featuring beautifully turned wooden handles.
These quality chisels showcase mid-20th century craftsmanship with substantial forged steel blades and elegantly turned hardwood handles. Each handle features an oval decorative panel containing red and metallic foil inlay under lacquer, along with decorative ring detailing. The blades are clearly marked with their widths, and steel ferrules secure the handles.
Lightly cleaned and oiled with raw linseed oil to preserve the original patina, the chisels exhibit typical age-related wear. Blades show honest use patina but remain solid with good steel. Handles in excellent condition with attractive natural aging and intact decorative inlays. Ferrules secure. One retains traces of original maker’s label. Ready for restoration, use, or display as a matched pair.
At 11" (28cm) long with widths of 3/4" (1.8cm) and 1" (2.5cm). Perfect for woodworkers, collectors of vintage chisels, or as decorative examples of mid-century tool design. Matching pairs with decorative handles are more desirable than singles, and these are in particularly nice condition.
All items where appropriate will be sent well packaged, tracked and insured. International buyers are responsible for any import taxes and duties. Where possible we will combine purchases for shipping. Total weigh approx. 0.4Kg.
