Date unknown.
Hohner Musikinstrumente GmbH & Co. KG is a German manufacturer of musical instruments, founded by Matthias Hohner in 1857. With it's roots in Trossingen, Baden-Württemberg, though known for its harmonicas, Hohner has manufactured a wide range of instruments. Nowadays, they producs harmonicas, melodicas, accordions and recorder flutes.
This 'Special 20 Marine Band' harmonica is in the key of E and is in full working order. Unfortunatley it doesn't come with a case.
Introduced in the mid-1970s. It has the same reeds as a Marine Band, but it has a plastic comb with rounded edges, instead of a wooden comb. Hohner's first harmonica to have a plastic comb, making the instrument more airtight, and eliminating the swelling wood combs go through as they moisten from use. This model quickly became the preferred choice of many rock and blues players. Most harmonicas being manufactured now, from all companies, are based upon the Special 20.
The harmonica and case have been lightly cleaned to remove grease and grime accumulated over the years. There are some rust spots and marks as expected with age.
